At a May Day demonstration in Berlin-Kreuzberg, a masked person read out a greeting from the imprisoned former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette.
In her message, Klette railed against capitalism, which contains "many abysmal aspects." As examples of her thesis, she cited human rights violations and the "genocide of the Palestinian population" by Israel. The German government supports this, among other things, with arms deliveries.
Before May 1, Klette's lawyer confirmed that a greeting from her would be read in Berlin. In it, the former RAF terrorist lamented increasing militarization and military agility. She accused the German government of increasingly fueling the war in Ukraine with arms deliveries, thereby risking an escalation to the point of a direct war between Germany and Russia. Klette did not mention that Russia is waging a war of aggression against Ukraine in violation of international law.

"On May 1st, I would like to express my solidarity," said Klette. "Solidarity with all the oppressed and exploited, and with all those in legality, illegality, or in prison, whose longing is a good life for all."
The former RAF terrorist had lived underground for many years and was arrested in Kreuzberg in 2024. Her trial began in March at the Verden Regional Court in Lower Saxony . The 66-year-old faces charges including attempted murder and 13 robberies. She is alleged to have committed these crimes together with former RAF terrorists Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg, who are still in hiding, to finance their underground life.
